Start an Online Business

You have the idea, it is best to have your own business rather than work for someone. The ultimate question is, where to start? what to do to roll the ball?
One of simple business with minimum investment is online (internet) business. You don’t have to rent an office, no need to spend money for its renovation, and all other costs related to conventional business. What you need to do is get a hosting package, install your application, that’s it, your website is running and it is the shop front. Well of course that’s in simplified terms. It is not that simple to start and run an online business. I will go through in more details on what you have to do to start an online business.

Requirements to start your online business
There are some requirements that are best to be fulfilled to gain success in your business:

  • - The line of business should be in the field that you are at least familiar with.
  • - You have passion on it. Without passion, you will give up the business prematurely halfway. No business is a bed-of-roses when you first started it. You need hardwork, and you won’t run out of energy if it is fueled by your passion.
  • - Some basic knowledge of coding. Choose the language (PHP, ASP, Java, ColdFusion, etc.), but I would recommend to pick PHP. PHP is powerful language, not without its weaknesses, but it’s quite easy to learn and it doesn’t need much resources to run.
  • - Some knowledge of how things work on internet. You may have an online business, but if you don’t know how to get visitors, it’s like having a shop in Sahara desert, no money will be generated.

    • OK, the problem with most of people are the last 2 points. Start with some basics, and learn on the fly. You will need more time, but with passion, you will be moving.
